Pomade has been dated back as far as the 18th century and was originally used as an ointment; it later became a hair product. “Pomade” is derived from the French word pommade, which means “ointment.” Fun Fact: Starting in the 18th Century and continuing for over 100 years Bear Fat was the main ingredient in Pomade! It wasn't until the 20th Century that petroleum, lard, and beeswax replaced the bear fat as the main pomade ingredient. Today the very best pomade contains beeswax as one of the main ingredients.
Our Pomade
Our high quality pomade is made entirely by us and comes in a 2 oz capacity round metal container. Its ingredients are only Shea Butter, Locally Sourced Beeswax, Jojoba Oil, a very small amount of honey, and it is lightly scented with the essential oil of Lavender, Cedarwood, or the combination of both. The essential oils are of the very highest quality available. We also have a "Fragrance Free" containing no additional scents added; it has just the natural scent of the ingredients.
Our Pomade is best classified as "Medium-Hold", "Satin" shine (between Matte & High Shine).
Pomade Use
Unlike hair spray and gels, pomade does not dry. It keeps the hairstyle flexible and can last much longer. Pomade is used to style hair (including mustaches, sideburns, and beards).
To use you just scrape out about a pea sized amount and rub it between your hands to liquify the pomade; then you just use your palms to coat the top of your hair with it. Style as needed.
Because of its waxy nature, pomade can last through a couple washings. I have not had any issues with ours staying in my hair after my shampoo routine; I wash my hair with typical temperature shower water and wash my head twice. (wash; rinse; wash; rinse). I use our lard shampoo on my own hair.
One customer said he would use it as Beard balm. As previously mentioned, it is great for that!
